Tilicum Weekly Review (2/15/25)

February 15, 2025

Hi Tigers! This week we continued our engineering curriculum and worked on building catapults using popsicle sticks and plastic spoons. Our tests on the function of these catapults were very successful, as each student-made catapults achieved the desired length of projection. The individual optimizations that you made to your catapults also helped the class learn more about how changing the structure of a catapult and affect its functions.By doing this hands-on project we enhanced our understanding of the concept of elastic potential energy and how they were stored in objects. We also get to visualize the process by which elastic potential energy was converted to other forms of energy such as kinetic energy. In general this was a fun and informative session, and I am very proud of the progress that each student has made.
