Hello, everyone. I just had my third week at Wooten elementary school. During the first week, we learned how to be a scientist and use the scientific method. The second week, we learned about gravity and air resistance. The kids did a paper airplane challenge with their newfound knowledge of how surface area affects air resistance. They made a paper airplane and tried to keep it in the air for the longest time possible. In the third week, we learned about our bodily systems, specifically the difference between voluntary and involuntary actions. We learned about reflexes, which the kids tested by dropping a ruler and catching it with a partner. Additionally, they did a reaction test with a foam ball. We also learned how the body uses oxygen to carry out its functions. We then tested the differences in breathing before and after exercise. I will continue to make science curriculum and I loved working with all the kids. I also am trying to find volunteers so I can expand operations into other schools.
