Hi Cougars! In our third week, I initiated the "DIY Ecosystem Project." With around 20 5th graders showing up consistently, we divided into three groups and assigned each group with recyclable materials to build an environment of their choice. I also had two more volunteers from my high school join the groups as well. Two teams decided to build a nuclear plant, and their approach was creative: they pierced my pumpkin to make smoke out of styrofoam, while some cut out plastic bottles to make a pipeline system. One team used my Nike shoe box to utilize as a forest, and they also used my resource slides to make delicate objects, such as origami trees or popsicle stick structures. Overall, the class was very active, but they should learn some responsibilities and safety, which I will make a slide for it next week. I was also satisfied with my program, too. I can't wait to see y'all next week!
