What is in the white square?
Hello Cougars! Since Thanksgiving is around the corner, I want to remind everyone of America's beautiful national parks before the trees shed their leaves for winter hibernation. We started by guessing famous landscapes across America, from the Grand Canyon to Yellowstone to the Great Smoky Mountains. Next, we learned about their history, from the Yellowstone Act of 1872 to Teddy Roosevelt's conservation effort. By this time, the class started to get noisy, so my volunteers took control of the class by putting them in a competition. With each team assigned a score of 100, every time a team was caught talking loudly would be taken down of their scores. The method worked super effectively! Our next activities involved drawing a missing square on my national park photo as if Bob Ross had to draw on a mini canvas. Everyone's drawings were superb: some applied perspective rules and others used vivid color palettes. In the end, no team got fined for being noisy, and they had a pleasant gallery walk too. That's all for today. I am glad we have made it this far. I can't wait to see you in the last class to celebrate our fun journey!
