Hi Wildcats! We’re back this week with an experiment based on last week’s lecture about water filters. From last week we understood that different materials have different permeabilities. This means that in order for our water filters to be effective we needed to have multiple layers of materials, decreasing in their permeability, starting from the top. This is why we had gravel at the top and cloth at the bottom. Some water filters worked better than others since in some of them, the cloth wasnt pushed down enough, resulting in gaps in the layer, letting the dirty water through. We tested how well our filters worked by combining water and dirt. Overall, it was a super fun day and everyone was able to see first hand the basic idea of water filters!
