Mother of Light Center Weekly Review (10/24/24)

October 24, 2024

Hello everyone! Last Thursday October 24th, me and some others from my school’s Robotics Team held our 2nd STEM session, and it was a great success. A good crowd of kids came in, and we had 3 different stations, 2 math and 1 engineering. We were building the strongest spaghetti and marshmallow structures, cutting fractions with pizzas made of play-doh. And I, initially trying out a game and realizing everyone was at a different position of skills, held a structure-free math session. Here, students had the rare freedom to explore their minds, doing math on small individual whiteboards or on a gigantic whiteboard that by the end was entirely crowded with math. I took the opportunity to display some key concepts and cool tricks you can do just with knowledge of basic arithmetic, as well as provided individual help. The kids didn’t just have fun, but learned a lot!
