Mother of Light Center Weekly Review (11/14/24)

Hello everyone! Last Thursday, November 7, me and 5 others from my school’s robotics team held our 3rd STEM session, and it was quite a success!The kids rotated smoothly between 3 stations:One was centered on geometry, area and perimeter for simple 2-d shapes, that I led with a partner at 2 tables. The kids played with colored blocks of different sizes to construct triangles and parallelograms, and as a bonus I had them try to make triangles and see when they could and weren’t able to with any 3 blocks. My partner incorporated various kinds of math for his kids well, including measuring with a ruler and practicing multiplication in finding the perimeter and area.Also, we took advantage of the fall weather, going outside with another activity on leaf rubbings and learning about leaves, making sure to include the fact that water can reach the top of high trees. And we held an activity on viewing and drawing various forms of nature under a magnifying glass.
