Hey Hawks! This week we kicked off our first session with around 20 kids! We started with introductions to get to know each other, and then dove into our first activity: creating Weebles! Weebles are eggs that stay up no matter how they get pushed due to their low center of mass. The students had fun decorating and customizing their Weebles, showcasing their artistic side. After they were done decorating, we explored the physics behind them. They learned about center of mass and how it helps the Weeble stay upright. Additionally, we showed a real-world example of center of mass in action with self-righting lifeboats. Next, we moved on to block coding using Code.org. Everyone stayed engaged through the coding and were excited to explore the challenges relating to Minecraft. It was a fun and interactive session, and everyone had a great time learning both physics and block coding!
