Hello Sparkles! This week's workshop was an exciting combination of biology and chemistry as we explored the science behind volcanoes and chemical reactions! The kids built their own volcano models using water bottles, paper, and paint to create a realistic structure. Then, we mixed baking soda, dish soap, food coloring, and water before adding vinegar to trigger an explosive reaction.Through this activity, we taught students about volcanoes and eruptions in biology, discussing how real volcanic explosions occur due to pressure buildup inside the Earth's crust. In chemistry, they learned about the reaction between baking soda and vinegar, which produces carbon dioxide (CO₂) gas, causing the foamy eruption. The kids had so much fun watching their volcanoes erupt while gaining hands-on experience with key scientific principles. It was an engaging and explosive way to learn!
