Supportive Family Housing Weekly Review (02/01/25)

Hello Sparkles! This chemistry-based workshop was all about density and polarity, as well as CO2. We made DIY lava lamps using oil, water, food coloring, and Alka-Seltzer. The kids learned about the reason why oil and water do not mix - density and polarity. We explained what density and polarity mean and how exactly we can see these concepts work in our lava lamps. This activity helped the kids understand the concepts of density, polarity and chemical reactions, as we saw bubbles of colorful liquid rise and fall inside the lamp. It was a mesmerizing way to learn about science!
